TRANSITIONAL HOUSING PROGRAM
Locations in: Boonton, Chester, Dover, and Morristown, NJ
Community Hope is seeking a motivated Behavioral Health Counselor Intern to support adults in recovery and gain hands-on experience in the behavioral health field. This internship is ideal for graduate students pursuing Psychology, Social Work, Human Services, or related fields who want meaningful, real-world experience while working alongside experienced mental health professionals.
What You’ll Do
As an intern, you will help support residents in our community-based transitional housing program through:
• Providing on-site supervision, counseling, and advocacy
• Assisting consumers with daily living skills (hygiene, budgeting, meal planning, household tasks, etc.)
• Supporting medical case management (appointments, prescriptions, follow-up)
• Helping with employment and education-related activities
• Encouraging community involvement, recreation, and socialization
• Providing crisis intervention when needed
• Participating in team meetings, documentation, and maintaining safety standards
• Upholding confidentiality and agency policies

Qualifications
• Currently enrolled in a graduate program in Psychology, Social Work, Human Services, or a related field
• Strong communication skills, empathy, and a desire to learn
• Ability to travel within service areas
